Need a time of repose? By yourself or with a friend, Cream Tea at The Wild Rose Tearoom is the perfect getaway! Enjoy a 16oz pot of tea from our Tea Menu, and a Fresh-baked Scone. Choose either our signature Vanilla Bean Cream Scone, or the Seasonal Baker’s Choice, served with our Fresh Lemon Curd and our very own Buffaloshire Cream. Our Cream Tea needs no reservation and begins at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

While Afternoon Tea became a British tradition as early as 1662, Cream Tea may have begun much earlier. There are early records of what seems to be a close relationship between cream tea and the Roman Empire in the 11th century.Vikings decimated the Tavistock Abbey of south-west England in 997 AD.During the reclamation, it is said that the monks, who lived in the abbey, rewarded the workers with bread topped with clotted cream and jam. This treat caught the attention of travelers who were also served by the monks, and no doubt they brought the idea home to the West Country of England.
