We could go on and on about tea's rich history, but for the sake of understanding what Afternoon Tea is all about, we look to Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford (1788-1861), who brought the interest from her native Portugal to England.
Though tea had taken a stronghold in England since the 17th century, Anna, suffering hunger pangs late in the day, began the light meal to see her through to suppertime. This pastime caught on among the elite, and eventually made its way to the commoner. But why should we make it common? Who doesn’t enjoy elevating the dining experience with a pot of great tea and all the accoutrements?
Afternoon Tea at The Wild Rose Tearoom offers delicacies that will tantalize your senses! A light salad, soup, and savories, such as finger sandwiches, crostini's, tarts, and canapés; fresh scones, served with lemon curd and Buffaloshire cream; and a delectable selection of desserts will delight you and your friends. Our Tea Sommelier will make tea selections from our CHARLEÈ Fine Teas that complement each of the three courses.
